About Dr. Alwin Bathija
Dr. Alwin Bathija is Managing Director of Genpact Germany and Global Head of Advisory, Financial Services. With more than 18 years in banking and financial services, he shapes the strategic direction of Genpact's global Financial Services advisory business while leading the company's country organisation and growth in Germany.
Alwin has held senior responsibility for large international teams inside a global bank and has advised financial institutions on strategy, regulation and operations. That combination lets him turn client expectations, regulatory pressure and AI-enabled transformation into operating models that work in practice. Under his leadership, Genpact delivers end-to-end transformation programmes for banks, capital markets firms and insurers, integrating process, organisation, data, AI and technology platforms. He is a trusted advisor to senior executives across the industry.
He joined Genpact in 2022 as Partner, building and scaling the firm's consulting practice for the sector before taking global leadership of Financial Services Advisory in 2024. In 2026 he additionally assumed the role of Managing Director for Germany.
Prior to Genpact, Alwin spent more than seven years at HSBC in Düsseldorf and London. As Global Head of Corporates in Global Banking & Markets Client Services, he was responsible for global KYC processes across one of the world's largest banking groups and contributed to the implementation of a new target operating model for Wholesale Banking operations. Earlier, he led Client Management for Group Corporate and Investment Banking and headed Middle Office Services in Germany, where he implemented global standards for Commercial and Global Banking. He began his career at Deutsche Bank and went on to advise national and international banks on strategic and regulatory programmes at PwC, in its Banking & Capital Markets practice.
Alongside his executive career, Alwin is an author, a speaker at international conferences and a lecturer in Banking Management at FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management. He completed his doctorate in 2026, researching how organisations can accelerate transformation to keep pace with changing customer behaviour.
