Cora cares: How Cora Orchestration helps save lives

With a clear picture of patient needs, doctors are improving care

Who we worked with

A major European hospice.

What the company needed

To improve the flow of patient information for better care, and to generate more effective work assignments and timely medical procedures.

How we helped

We worked with the hospice to integrate devices such as blood pressure, insulin, and heart monitors so staff could get a clear, one-stop picture of immediate patient needs.

What the company got

Doctors can now review medical data in real time to determine if they need to visit a patient in person, instruct onsite caregivers on treatment, and respond to early warning signs. As well:

  • The hospice’s senior leadership is using the newly gathered data to easily create reports and to better allocate work and tasks to staff
  • The new system transformed medical care for better patient outcomes

For 20 years, our client—a major hospice in Europe—has been using tele-medicine and cardiac tele-monitoring devices to keep track of patient conditions. But the same data created a major dilemma. What good was all that information if doctors couldn’t get a holistic view of their patients?

Challenge

Turn too much information into useful data

The volume of data became overwhelming and the information didn’t integrate with any of the hospice’s medical processes.

As a result, the facility faced the following challenges:

  • Devices didn’t communicate or work together
  • There was no electronic collection of data
  • Information flowed in too many directions
  • There was too much data to handle
  • Systems were inflexible
  • Medical experts had to interpret the data to determine the next steps in care

Solution

Connect devices and move the hospice onto a single platform system: Genpact Cora Orchestration

At the heart of the process
Our first job was to develop a system architecture that connects all of the hospice’s medical devices, including its ECG, blood pressure, body weight, blood oxygen saturation and insulin monitors. Genpact Cora Orchestration, which manages the work, houses the collected data, and instantly sends the information to doctors and medical staff, is at the heart of the system.

Now, doctors can remotely review all relevant data in real time and decide whether they need to check on a patient in person, instruct onsite caregivers on how to best provide treatment, and respond to early warning signs. Doctors and their medical teams can work together to manage processes for admitting or discharging patients and capturing patient data. They can do all of this from anywhere, on any computer or mobile device, in a single screen through Cora Orchestration.

Impact

Saving patient lives with realtime care

By integrating the telemedicine devices with Cora Orchestration, the hospice now has a visual representation of each patient’s data and records. Senior management reporting is much improved. And the system allocates works and tasks to medical staff more efficiently.

All this has resulted in:

  • Real-time care management
  • Lower cost of care
  • Improved patient outcomes and quality of life
  • A better user experience for medical personnel
  • Better work allocation and task management for greater efficiency
