With increasing globalization of trade and services, a typical mid-to-large size organization works with multiple suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and customers all over the world. Our simulation techniques map these interactions and account for uncertainty with What-If analyses that help clients make hypercritical decisions.

Our Approach
Genpact’s skilled simulation team supports areas such as demand and supply planning, scheduling and capacity optimization, Logistics and sourcing. We start with formulation of the client-specific problem and tentative solution development. This solution then goes through multiple iterative cycles to test and study its sensitivity to various factors, thereby leading progressively from generalized problem specification and remediation to a detailed and optimized solution. Typical solutions include strategic decisions for Capacity Expansion (to arrive at the right number of facility, capital equipment and manpower resources based on demand and supply constraints), Site Positioning (to determine the right location for a warehouse or production,) Contract Pricing (to derive the optimal terms on long-term service agreements); and tactical decisions for Inventory Policy (to calculate desired stocking levels for different product classes in the face of uncertain demand, lead times, review periods and customer-service expectations), and Scheduling and Route Optimization for planning and shipments.

Client Successes
Genpact enabled a Global Energy concern to increase machine utilization by 15 percent for a sub product line, resulting in 18.56 percent improved productivity. We used simulation to forecast equipment failures, helping a Global Engineering Major better price (and win) a $1 billion, 10-year deal. Optimized routing for a global logistics business, resulting in a 47 percent reduction in the resources and a 20 percent savings in mileage-related costs.
